Directions

To get here, drive through Takaka from Nelson and carry on, taking the first turn right after you have past the turn off to Collingwood. This road is signposted to Pakawau and Farewell Spit. Take the first left turn past the settlement of Pakawau. The Pakawau Community Hall is on the corner and the road is sign-posted to Mangarakau and Westhaven Inlet amongst other places. Mangarakau is defined by a stretch of tar-seal about 1.5km long about 30 km from the turn off. We are just over 1km down Snake Creek Rd which is the first turn on the left, a few minutes after Mangarakau and we have a large sign on our letter box.
Make sure you allow plenty of time when you drive here from Collingwood as the trip through Westhaven Inlet with all its causeways and surrounded by native bush is quite spectacular.
It takes approximately one and a half hours to get here from Takaka.
